Framing Begins

Framing of the new addition began today. It was the first exciting day in quite a while.
Today I could actually walk around and visualize all of the rooms and size of each space.

I think the rooms look like they will be fairly large for a home of this age.

We again had to make a few adjustments to the original plan,but I definitely think the changes made this time were for the better.





I was very pleased with progress made today. Keep up the great work guys!!! :)

Not Much To Report

Certainly nothing earth shattering to write about today. The crew has been fixing the dining room floor (which, of course, is completely BORING!)

I'm going through a phase were I just want something exciting to happen.I want some pictures to share that are at least a little interesting. Hopefully soon...

I think the front of the house has been painted with actual paint color. If so, I really like it.

Back From Vacation

We just returned from vacation today. We immediately took a drive over to the house to see what progress was made while we were away. Our crew (Smitjen Co) is straightening up the house as much as possible. Of course it will never be perfect, (remember, this house is over 150 years old) but to me it is part of the charm of this little cottage gem.


It turns out this is not the paint color, but is a tinted primer. It is, however, very close to the actual paint color.

Framing of the new addition should begin soon.

Comments On The Color?

The concrete pad has been poured and the color is going on. Adjustments had to be made to the room sizes again. What do you think about the color?

It's Coming Along.

The rock for the new concrete foundation was completed today. Weather permitting, the concrete could be poured as early as tomorrow.

Back On Track?

We had some activity at the house today. The footings were poured and the details of the new addition were discussed. Hopefully this is the beginning of progress that's a little more exciting.

Trying To Stay Optimistic

Today was another day with no activity. What's going on??? I'm not sure. So far we haven't been able to speak to anyone to get an explanation as to why there is a delay.

Finding Beauty In The Chaos

Unfortunately, not a whole lot going on since my last post. Due to the rain, and the 4th of July holiday, we had 5 full days of no activity. The footings have yet to be poured.

We took some of the old carpet out and took down the wallpaper in the office.
However, there is a beautiful little patch of phlox blooming in the middle of a messy construction site. It reminds me to take a deep breath, and look for the beauty in all situations. :)

Moving Forward

Today we had a bit of good news. A miscalculation when digging the footings has given us some much needed extra square footage. We were able to add an extra foot to the bathroom, 2 extra feet to the kitchen and 3 extra feet to the master bedroom. I know it doesn't sound like much, but every little bit helps and I am very excited about it.

They also roughed in the plumbing today. I am told tomorrow they will start pouring the footings.
